1st Birthday Party

I was so lucky to have lots of friends and family at my 1st birthday party. And I was spoiled with lots and lots of cool gifts - THANK YOU everybody! We held the party at the pool of our apartment complex. Mom baked me a lion cake and dad and the guys made boerewors and toasted cheese sandwiches on the barbeque. Even though the weather was not perfect, my friends could swim and I think everybody had a good time. Now that the vacation and birthday party is behind me I am focussing on the whole walking thing... Watch this space!

My first trip to Canada

Hi everyone! I know it has been a while since I've posted anything... see - I've been B-U-S-Y-! I went on vacation with mom, dad, oupa & ouma to Toronto and the Niagara-on-the-Lake district of Ontario. The first photo is of me and mom on top of the CN-Tower - Toronto's best known landmark. We had fabulous weather for the whole week and really enjoyed our time in Canada. While we were there the Canadian dollar achieved parity with the US dollar, which made things a little expensive, but we had a great time nonetheless. The second photo is from our visit to Niagara Falls. We were given these ponchos to "stay dry" while we took the Maiden of the Mist boat to the foot of the falls. Needless to say - the ponchos did not fully work! We also visited some awesome wineries in Niagara-on-the-Lake: Chateau des Charmes, Hillebrand, Inniskillin, and Peller Estates. Mom & Dad bought some Rieslings that they say are really great.

Birthday gifts

I can definitely get used to birthdays! Receiving gifts is cool... check out the nifty rugby ball that aunt Delia sent me from Johannesburg. I'll carry it with me to every Rugby World Cup match I watch... And how about that T-shirt? Spiffy!
Thanks everyone for my awesome gifts!

LOOK WHO IS TURNING ONE!!!

12-SEPTEMBER-2007
I've made it to 1 year old! This has been the funnest, most awesome, coolest year of my life!
...
Wait a minute...
Well, anyway - I feel so lucky to have made it this far and to have met so many wonderful people. My birthday party is not until the 23rd, but Mom & Dad say I can begin so long. And I have this party hat already (thanks Andrew & Sarah!), so there is no stopping me!

New skills

I just love exploring, and this morning at breakfast, my mommy gave up on trying to keep me clean and I ate my cereal all by myself. As you can see, I think I did extremely well.
I am also practicing my balancing skills, because Oupa and Ouma are coming to visit next weekend and I want to impress them by standing for more than 10 seconds at a time. I think I might just walk while they are here.... We are leaving for Toronto next Saturday morning and I am really excited about my second international vacation. I heard rumors that my mommy is a bit nervous about the flight to Canada, but she should not worry - I'll keep her busy.

Labour Day Weekend

This was a 3-day weekend thanks to labour day and we had an action-packed schedule. We drove to Placerville to visit the Sinclair-Lees and I got to sit on a pony named Sonny and played with Ethan, Jamin and Elizabeth. See me in the blue "tunnel"...? On Sunday we drove to Fallen Leaf Lake near Lake Tahoe and had a picnic next to the lake and went for a hike with my Mom's boss, Tina. It was an absolutely gorgeous setting with perfect weather. Sunday night we stayed over at the Rubows and when I woke this morning I could play with Sullivan (yeah - we ripped up those Kleenex tissues good!) and his pug Sierra. We ended the weekend with dinner with the Vissers and Montoyas and it was well after my normal bed time when I went to bed. I'm exhausted!
